Savvy + Co. Real Estate has a long history of providing excellent service to homebuyers and sellers, providing enriching experiences for agents, and giving back to the Charlotte community.
In the summer of 2019, Savvy + Co. created the Agent Advisory Committee (AAC). The goal of the AAC is to bring together agents who are interested in topics such as leadership, team building, volunteerism, and community engagement.
“The committee has served to cultivate strong relationships between the agents, communicate purpose and passion, and promote a team-based model for leadership,” said Savvy + Co. agent and co-owner Victor Ahdieh. “This committee has become a vehicle to recognize and reward valuable contributions by agents to the firm and the community.”
Lara Bucci, Savvy + Co. agent and current president of the AAC, acts as a liaison between Savvy + Co., the agents, and organizations for potential volunteer opportunities. In the summer of 2020, the AAC began a partnership with the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition (WBNC), a non-profit organization focusing on improving public health, economic development, and education for the West Boulevard corridor residents in Charlotte
“We wanted to get involved with an organization that was a leading force in helping areas right here in Charlotte impacted by food deserts,” said Lara. “The lack of access to fresh produce causes members of our community to choose low-quality foods because it is easier than spending an hour on the bus, each way, going to the grocery store. During the pandemic, the WBNC has been able to touch the lives of so many community members through their community garden as well as mentorship programs for their youth.”
Samara Brown, Savvy + Co. agent and secretary of the AAC, added “the WBNC’s mission to drive economic development through community-led initiatives was a great way to get involved, give back, and utilize our specific skill sets as realtors.”
On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m., Savvy + Co. agents, friends, and family members will volunteer at the WBNC’s community garden (2901 Romare Bearden Drive, 28208). Volunteers will help with seasonal planting and overall tending of the garden.
“The fact that (the WBNC) came together to do something incredibly life-changing for their community shows what true humanity is,” said Lara. “They saw a significant problem in the community and did something about it. They learned how to grow vegetables, which is not an easy task, and spread the word around that they not only sell food but healthy food at a very affordable price.”
In addition to running the community garden, the WBNC also focuses on community outreach programs and advocating for all citizens that call the West Boulevard corridor home. Throughout the pandemic, the WBNC hosted outdoor events to educate the community about COVID-19 and handed out free supplies, such as masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer.
The WBNC is 100% volunteer-based and relies on the community for financial assistance, volunteers to work side-by-side with them in the garden, and assist with organizing events. Savvy + Co. is honored to be working with the WBNC and helping them further their mission and community outreach efforts.
