In 2008, Charlotte adopted the City of Charlotte Bicycle Plan which set forth the framework for a bicycle friendly vision of our communities. The plan includes awareness initiatives, educational aspects for riders, as well as connecting and expanding the existing bicycle network in the city. Charlotte currently has a Bronze Medal for Bike Friendly Communities according to the League of American Bicyclists. Plans to increase that rating include expanding and developing the Rail Trail. This charity event raises money to help fight cancer while volunteers ride along Charlotte’s Booty Loop, a popular, traffic-free, three-mile loop of trails in Myers Park.

But don’t worry, this event is open to all skill levels, and even has a Kids Sprint event!
Charlotte B-Cycle
Want to bike around town, but don’t want to commit to ownership? Try Charlotte B-Cycle, the Southeast’s largest bicycle sharing program! Twenty-four B-Stations across Charlotte allow members to borrow a bike, ride it to their destination, and then drop it off at any other B-Station. No need to worry about storage or maintenance. B-Station locations range from John C. Smith University Campus, across Uptown, down into SouthEnd, and east though Dilworth and Elizabeth.
